It was early morning, a light mist covered the grounds of Stone Haven. The scent of rain hung in the air as Elena escaped the brick prison of the indoors. Taking a deep breath, she caught the whiff of deer and heard its heart beating as it stood eating in a meadow down the way, nearly two miles away. The hunger and drive inside her brought her to her knees. Growling and eyes flashing in desire, she tried to contain herself. No! I cannot change! No! She repeated to herself as she gritted her teeth.
Elena feared the change would harm the baby and she could not risk losing something already so precious to her. Even though she was still early, there was so much love and protection over it already. Both excited and fearful with anticipation, the woman didn't even know what to feel. This child would be the first of its kind; a full-blooded werewolf. When she'd first taken the test, it'd given her a false negative. Knowing her body, she pushed onward and went and bought several more tests. After two days, she got the positive result she'd always known.
It was still very early on in her pregnancy and since discovering the news, she had no effects. And nobody knew yet. She had to be sure; scientifically and clinically certain. Going against her better judgement, she went into town the previous day and got an ultrasound. Low and behold, there was most definitely a baby in there. Elated and afraid, she got the doctor to start her on some prenatal vitamins and other things she could use, things to allow her not need to return to such a doctor -- Jeremy would have a field day if he knew where she'd been. Reluctantly the doctor had allowed her to continue her remedies and medicines from her home.
Now that she'd gotten the pregnancy confirmed by a licensed doctor, she had to tell the pack. It wouldn't be easy, but she'd start showing down the road and somebody was bound to notice that she refused to change, let alone hunt. She knew she wouldn't be able to hold the wolf in for nine months, but for now, she took another deep breath and began her morning walk around the property. She'd tell Clayton and Jeremy and the family when she was ready, but even she'd be the first to admit the thought of being a mother scared her to death. Oh Lord, what had she gotten herself into?
